"It was the winter holiday and I was back in Togo having a kickabout with friends when my phone rang. One of the boys answered it and said, 'Manu, it's Arsene for you'. 'Arsene who?' I said. 'Arsene Wenger', he said. 'Get out of it', I said, and grabbed the phone off him. But then I heard the voice. 'Allo'. F*****g hell. It is Arsene Wenger!"

Madrid Clash: Ins And Outs

The first-leg of Arsenal big Champions League clash against Real Madrid is less than 12 hours away, and here is the shock last minute fitness stats.

Out: Dennis Bergkamp
This is a weird story, Dennis was prepared to make the long road trip to Madrid for the match, but at the least minute pulled-out as he wasnt able to recover from his calf injury in time to get in his car?!

Out: Ashley Cole
Cole believes he is 100% ready but Wenger insists that he is not going to take a chance of playing(not even on the bench) on his best left-back and said: "I could have taken a gamble on Ashley Cole but he only had one training session with the team." Wenger also pointed out that the last time Cole made his return from a long-term injury, he instantly got injured again.

In: Reyes
Jose Antonio Reyes will be in Spain, if he will play....thats another matter. Wenger has taken Reyes to Spain in hopes that he will recover from his 'badly bruised leg' injury that he suffered against Bolton before the showdown. Even if he does recover, he may not start.

In: Theo Walcott
What a way to play your first pro match for Arsenal, against Real Madrid. And he is the favourite to start aswell! Well, the only time he has even played in an Arsenal shirt was in our 3-2 loss to Portsmouth in a reserves match. One things for sure, he will definately be able to play after successfully recovering from the shoulder injury that kept him out of the Liverpool match.

Out: Emmanuel Adebayor
Adebayor is cup-tied after playing a UEFA Cup match for Monaco before moving to Arsenal. Which means he cant play in any European competition until next season.

Other Outs:
Gail Clichy(fractured foot), Pascal Cygan(hamstring), Lauren(knee), Kerrea Gilbert(back), Sol Campbell(ankle), Robin Van Persie(toe).

Other Ins:
No other players returning from injuries ahead of the match.

Heres the line-up picked to travel to Spain.
