Legends Wright And Adams Against The Club?!
Tuesday, March 07, 2006
Arsenal 2nd highest scorer in history, Ian Wright has urged Thierry Henry to join Barcelona if he wants to achieve european success.
Wright said:
"With everything that Henry has done at Arsenal and with the desire he has to win the Champions League and other titles I would have to consider it if Barcelona called me."
"It would be the chance to play with a player who has reached the heights of Maradona, Pele, Zinedine Zidane or Ronaldo - because Ronaldinho is among that elite."
What I dont understand is how he can say Ronaldinho is at the same height as Pele and Maradona. Even Henry has won more silverware than Ronaldinho.
Another Arsenal legend, Tony Adams has said that Arsenal will not win the Champions League anytime soon.
Adams said: "They need some more 'now' players,"
He added: "They have a serious lack of experience, although obviously experience can only be gained by going out and doing it.
"Maybe they have not got enough experienced guys to tell the younger ones what to do. In hindsight, Patrick (Vieira) leaving was a year too early."
When asked for his comments regarding Arsenal's new signings, Tony said:
"They are going to have to wait for success, because of the way Arsene has gone about his recruitment in buying some of the best young talent in the world. That does not give you instant success. You have to wait for it.
"It's a gamble, and you will have to judge Arsene on the team that he is building."
