Madrid Tried To Swoop Ronaldo For Henry
Sunday, February 26, 2006
Real Madrid had offered Arsenal Ronaldo in an attempt to lure Thierry Henry to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The offer came hours before Arsenal's champions league tie against the Spanish giants. A game that saw Henry score the only goal in a 1-0 victory for the Gunners.
Ronaldo has been hammered by captain Raul for expressing his anger towards the Real fans on the eve of the champions league tie. Raul blasted the Brazilian and said that he put himself ahead of the team.
Despite Real President Florentino Perez has insisting that Ronaldo will not leave the club, it has appeared the decision had already been made. After getting a well-deserved NO from the Gunners, Perez was lead to say: "Arsenal want Henry to stay there and I believe he will be playing there next season."
Henry has yet to sign a new £35million five-year deal on offer at Highbury although he has said he will stay at Highbury. If he does leave, the likely destination is Barcelona.
