Cech Sees Arsenal As Inspiration
Friday, February 24, 2006
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech says that his team will use Arsenal's history-making victory in Madrid as inspiration when they travel to Barcelona for the second leg of their tie in a fortnight.
Arsenal became the first English club to beat Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Chelsea are hoping that they can achieve a similar result against Barcelona. The last English team to beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp was Liverpool in 1976, 30 years ago!
"We need only to look at the example of Arsenal at the Bernabeu; history and the record books are there to be changed and that is what we are looking to do," Cech said.
"We are still only at half-time, and if we can keep 11 players on the field in Barcelona, we can still turn it round and go through."
