Now, I know I haven't posted for more than a week because well..When every headline is linking Henry to Barca you kinda don't have the mood to type.
Anyway, Thierry Henry's move to Barcelona has been met with a surprising quiet reaction of Arsenal bloggers, that says a lot considering that Arsenal have the most fan blogs anyone can think of. The reason why everyone is talking of replacements instead of actually commenting on the King's departure is probably to maintain a good image. No blog wants to be labelled the blog that called Thierry a cunt. After all, only an idiot would call the club's all time top scorer with 226 goals to his credit a cunt. But if you want the idiot's point of view then im here for you. The blog that doesn't give a damn about image.
No gooner will openly admit it, but in our hearts we all now feel that Thierry is a cunt. The shocking turn from "I'm buying a shirt that says im staying in London" to "I'm leaving because a board member is no longer at the club". C'mon Thierry, you cant expect anyone to actually take that as a reason you are leaving a club where you have spent nearly a decade. A club where the fans hail you as King, not even the Liverpool fans hail Gerrard as King.
Thierry Henry didn't like the fact that Patrick Vieira was sold, he didn't like the fact that Bobby Pires was allowed to leave, he didn't like the fact as Arsene Wenger was rebuilding a side for the next 5 years when he had less than that to win major honours before his ability would start declining. He signed a 4-year extension to his contract in a moment of emotion. Losing the CL final to not only the side he was about to join, but losing it will being kicked about by their defenders. He signed the contract more out of anger towards Barcelona than towards his love for Arsenal.
Now don't get me wrong, I know that Thierry loves the Arsenal fans and that it probably was a tough decision to leave but I think he is a cunt because he didn't come out and admit that he wants to join Barcelona because he doesn't feel this team is good enough. He took us for a bunch of idiots, even now as he packs his bags for Catalonia, he is giving 20,000 explanations for his leaving, everything from Patrick Vieira to David Dein but not once does he mention his own name for the reason of leaving. When you make such a drastic change in your career you have to take at least some responsibility for the decision. His reasons:
1. David Dein being axed off the board.
2. Arsene Wenger MAYBE leaving next season.
3. The players are unsettled at the club.
Thierry took us for a ride. The thought by being politically correct in interviews he could still have a place in the hearts of us gooners when all it actually did was make the pain of him leaving all the more painful.
To Thierry:
That place you had in my heart is now occupied by Robin van Persie.
You can disagree with me all you want but everyone has at least some anger towards Henry for the way he handled things. No about of sucking up to the Arsenal fans will ever change that.
